Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : Are psychics considered bad to Christians?

My mom went to a psychic today, and she does every year, and many things she told came true. But the way she tells my mom about isn’t direct, and for example she told her that in July I would receive a certificate for an exam or something similar to that, and once told her that someone would be carrying suitcases into our house (my cousin moved in that year to Canada).
The person doesn’t know details, but is it still considered evil?

Answer by KJV Bible Thumper
Psychics are considered non Christians in the Bible they were called seers

EDIT: sorry a seer was God’s prophet

a psychic uses divination

There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
(Deuteronomy 18:10-11 KJV)

Answer by Pumpkin Halloween Queen
It is considered bad to have anything to do with “magic”. So you’re mom can be looked at as a hypocrite by other Christians.

It is not evil though.

Gifts and callings are without repentance. That means different people can have the gift of prophecy. So you call somebody with this gift a psychic in the World. But in the church we call them Prophets. Prophets are “anointed” and use their gift for God. Yes psychics are bad. It’s almost like witchcraft if your not doing it for God. “Believe not every spirit, but test the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”

Well, with some psychics, it’s really just basic psychology. But when they actually start predicting accurate events, that is where discretion comes in, to determine where their predictions are coming from. Whether it is demonic influences, or if it really is God using them to talk to the Church.

Answer by christopher
To me personally, no.

1 Corinthians 12 tells us about spiritual gifts.

Answer by Shalom Salaam
Psychics use witchcraft. If you want to know something, seek God, not the psychic. After all, God is free! 🙂

Answer by Ray
I am a Christian.

Psychics and such alike are an abomination to God. Read the following: “When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee” (Deuteronomy 18:9-12).

In Galatians 5:19-20, The Apostle Paul warned against a number of activities to be known as sin, of the flesh, sinful nature. In the same list of sins besides sexual immorality, hatred and impurity, sorcery or magic arts is also listed as sin. Not like Copperfield or Houdini, but more like when a person uses magic to be venerated as being of a divine inspiration. This was the case with Simon Magus the sorcerer who performed magic to gain praise in Acts 8:4-24. About 30 years later, Simon Magus the sorcerer became a contending enemy of the Christian churches…

Christianity is brainwash and they have no idea of what their talking about!
A psychic can be a prophet in some cases because there are many different people that call them self’s psychic!

Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : Why are most astrologers middle aged?

Why aren’t there any young astrologers? Do you have to have years of experience and training?

Answer by ru’ahh אֱמֶת
The same reason that most idiots and know it alls are teenagers.

Human learning takes time. And in real astrology, there’s a lot to learn.

Answer by ChainLightninG⅜
No, just the experience to be able to prey on the gullible. Older will people are looked at as being knowledgeable. Astrology is business first. Live astrologers have to be assumed psychics. If not, doing it yourself is an option. Computers programs and websites are faster, better, and won’t make “human” errors. Still, none have any kind of common source for their predictions thus are inconsistent and contradictory with each other. So there is no possible way to say which is accurate and certainly in predicting the future, astrology fails.

Answer by Spirited Goat
All the Astrology book knowledge in the world is no replacement for life experience. The young astrologers usually have a lot of answers but also naive attitudes and views. So, imo, yes, you have to have years of experience as well as training.

Answer by Antares
Ring the bell and Chain drools. The question is this: Why are most astrologers middle aged and he answers “no.” Hmmmm Not paying close attention I guess.

>>No, just the experience to be able to prey on the gullible. Older will people are looked at as being knowledgeable. Astrology is business first. Live astrologers have to be assumed psychics.<< This string of unconnected statements lacks any support other than Chain believes it. He demands proof of others but merrily chugs along reciting his own prejudices at the drop of a hat or ring of the bell. His statement that "live astrologers have to be presumed psychics," beggars belief. Who ever made that claim? Source please? >>If not, doing it yourself is an option. Computers programs and websites are faster, better, and won’t make “human” errors.<< Faster and better than what? Humans? Wait a minute, if humans do no better than chance, in what way is a computer better? The fact is a computer is not better. I'll explain: Computers kick out what is derisively called "cookbook astrology." The chart is calculated and a report is printed that is nothing more than Venus in Taurus means this. Mars in the 3rd house means that etc. There is no attempt to weave a whole story because computers can't reason. These pre-written paragraphs will contain contradictions, because they are not the product of reasoning, but rather they are little more than canned presentations. They will "hit" every now and then and they make fun gifts, but they aren't astrology and they rarely predict much of anything. On the other hand a skilled astrologer can pick through some of the apparent contradictions (It's not like humans are 100% consistent) and produce a more cohesive picture. Furthermore he can work with the client based on what the client wants particularly if the client wishes more than spending a pleasant hour or two talking about himself. Why anyone would give an astrologer money and just sit back and say "Tell me about myself," is quite beyond me. I don't take clients like that. If you have a reason, and I think I can help, fine. If I don't think I can help or I think the reason for the "reading" is trivial, I don't bother with that person. The natal chart shows the potential. Prediction is telling the client when the potential will be realized and to what extent. If the client simply sits back and waits for things to happen, he or she is in for a rude surprise. I love the women who ask breathlessly, when will I meet my soul mate, and then never leave the house. >Still, none have any kind of common source for their predictions thus are inconsistent and contradictory with each other. So there is no possible way to say which is accurate and certainly in predicting the future, astrology fails.< But wait computers are better and now he says there is no way to say which is accurate and which isn't. Talk about contradictions. As for this lack of a common source, that is just plain factually incorrect. While there are a plethora of astrology books out there for purchase, only a relative handful are needed and there is a pretty good consensus among practicing astrologers which ones are indispensable, which ones are interesting, and which ones are junk. OK let's answer the question. There was a point not all that long ago when there was a demographic problem with astrologers. They were mostly old. Some referred to it as "the graying of astrology." There didn't seem to be many young people interested. Astrology groups, consisted largely of middle aged people and older. Attendance at conferences had an average age in the 50s. However this has changed. Kepler College offered history degrees with an emphasis on astrology's role in history in addition to astrology courses. When mainstream historians do this it's legitimate. If an astrologer does it , then it's offensive. There used to be a group on Yahoo called something like "The Association of Young Astrologers." And here is a website run by a young and talented astrologer: http://www.chrisbrennanastrologer.com/ Isn't this better than being scolded by Chain? Enjoy.

Astrology requires both knowledge and wisdom. Wisdom is gained only through life experience.

Answer by Great Compassionate Mantra
Astrology is more of an Art than a science. And art requires experiences and training. Most esoterics working only get better with age, because there are answers and knowledge that only those who have walked and tasted the path would know.

There are young astrologers, I suspect there are a lot more young astrologers than we initially thought there are. However, just like any profession, unless one is extraordinarily gifted, the one with more experiences are usually the one who have been doing it for years and years. Take medicine for examples, there are certainly young doctors, but frankly, when ill people get admitted to the hospitals , most of the time, they need a doctor who is well experienced and well trained. And an old and wise looking doctors most often are able to generate trust and a sense of security in the patients. From what I have observed, jobs and professions that deal and interrect with people on a frequent basis require experiences and understanding, more than speed, strength and agility.

You see, sports as a profession, young people take majority and we hardly see any middle aged people compete. Because it is a profession that requires physical prowess and strength, while training is needed, it does not involve interraction with other peopke much on a mental and emotional level. In some type of sport, when you reach a certain age, you are no longer fit to compete because your flexibility and agility level just drop. The retirement age of most sport end where what we call the ” middle age ” is just about to begin, and sometimes even much much earlier than that.

That is not to say we dont have middle age people engaging in sports or physical activity, as everyone is welcome to do whatever they feel like doinng, just like young people are welcome to take interest in astrology. In young age, we have several advantages : the speed, the passion, the agility, physical endurance and a fresh and optimisstic outlook on life, which by no means something bad. In old age, we have experiences, wisdom, compassion and soberiety ( in many different ways). This is most often simply a cycle of life and biologically programmed ( at least for most of us )

Answer by XxJestinsLuvinxX
yes, and i wouldnt even think about believeing in that stuff……IT’S ALL BOUT THE MONEY

Answer by Tripple Gold 1
yes..Just pray about it., But I do see that there is some problems..You can stop this whole process if you them to stop bickering., Tell your father’s girlfriend that you really love her and that you would like to see them together.. But there is something deeply wrong..Idk what it is? These two people need to relax with each other and rekindle heavily in order to make it work! I don’t see that there is another person involved.. What you should do is cook a dinner for the both of them and tell them to relax.. That will work!!

If you believe, and stress out about, what those charlatans say, then something bad may well happen. But if you disregard it, and accept that there is no such thing as a real “psychic” and that they are only after your money, then nothing will happen. How would those nitwits know?

Answer by Life Is…
The free will of which you speak would depend on the actions and choices made by your father and his girlfriend. So, if this prediction is accurate, then you personally cannot change the outcome, but the actions and choices of these two people can change the outcome. A psychic can tell you about the energy surrounding a certain situation, but the querent can then take steps to avoid obstacles and grab at opportunities. In any case, all is fluid. When a psychic gives you accurate information about these two people or yourself, then you have a pretty good idea of just how good that psychic will be at assessing future situations. I hope that is helpful.

The Most Accurate World Predictions Ever 2013

Written by HEYOKA

The Heyókȟa symbolize and portray many aspects of the sacred, the Wakȟáŋ. Their satire presents important questions by fooling around. They ask difficult questions, and say things others are too afraid to say. By reading between the lines, the audience is able to think about things not usually thought about, or to look at things in a different way.

Principally, the Heyókȟa functions both as a mirror and a teacher, using extreme behaviors to mirror others, thereby forcing them to examine their own doubts, fears, hatreds, and weaknesses. Heyókȟas also have the power to heal emotional pain; such power comes from the experience of shame—they sing of shameful events in their lives, beg for food, and live as clowns. They provoke laughter in distressing situations of despair and provoke fear and chaos when people feel complacent and overly secure, to keep them from taking themselves too seriously or believing they are more powerful than they are.
